Church History

Greater Community Bible Tabernacle ... is a product of Community, which was started under the illustrious ministry of the late Bishop Wallace W. Smith. In the mid 1990’s the church was reorganized as the result of a group of seven faithful women members called the Concerned Members of CBT.

Many of its original members are deceased, but as a result of their efforts and the efforts of others the church is now a vital, active part of thePhiladelphiachurch community. In April 1997 Rev. Stacey Roberts became the interim pastor and was installed as pastor in 1999 by the late Bishop Quander L. Wilson, then Prelate of the Greater Emmanuel International Fellowship.

In 2001 Elder Freeman Wilson, Jr. was installed as assistant pastor and served faithfully until his death in December 2007. GCBT, as we are affectionately known, has weathered many storms but we have grown because of God’s blessing and the hard work of committed, faithful and generous members. Greater Community Bible Tabernacle is a member of the International Fellowship of Churches under the leadership of founder and Prelate Bishop Audrey F. Bronson, D. Min.
